The United States lead the 2016 academic ranking of the world top 200 universities in natural sciences and mathematics with 64 universities, followed with a big gap by China with 19, the United Kingdom with 17, Germany with 15, and France with 10 universities.
A set of small industrialized nations grab the top slots of the per capita ranking, and place themselves well above the average (red line) and the median : Switzerland (index of 60.10), Hong Kong (54.31), Israel (37.37), Australia (37.15), and Denmark (35.19).
