The 2013 ranking of world top 100 universities by subject matter and by region, set aside the expectable dominance of the Americas' academia — mainly North America's — in all 5 disciplines, is rocked by the emergence of Asian universities particularly in Chemistry and Computer science, in which disciplines Europe is left lagging behind. Such a performance is the doing of China that places in the top 100 ten universities in chemistry, and 13 in Computer science, just behind America.
