The United States lead the 2014 academic ranking of the world top 100 universities in natural sciences and mathematics with 45 universities, 5 shorter than in 2013, being followed with a big gap by the United Kingdom with 10, Germany with 9, France with 7 and Japan with 6 universities.
A set of small industrialized nations grab the top slots of the per capita ranking, and place themselves above the average (red line) and the median : Switzerland, Israel, Denmark and Finland.
