The United States lead the 2013 academic ranking of the world top 100 universities in natural sciences and mathematics with 50 universities, and are followed with a big gap by the United Kingdom with 9, and France, Germany and Japan each with 6 universities.
A set of small industrialized nations grab the top slots of the per capita ranking, and place themselves above the average (red line) and the median : Israel, Switzerland, Denmark and Finland.
