Unsurprisingly, the United States lead the 2013 academic ranking of the top 100 world universities in engineering, technology and computer sciences, with a total of 42 institutions, of which 11 take the top eleven slots. Asia/Oceania put a formidable show with 32 universities — of which 16 located in China, after consolidation of Taiwan and Hong Kong. The Europeans claim 22 universities in the list, of which 3 in the top 20.
Hong Kong and Singapore are the best performers in per capita terms both with per capita indexes about 3 times the average. Sweden and Switzerland follow with indexes about twice the average and the median values.
