number of people affected by modern slavery, reaching 9.5 million in Asia and Pacific, 1.3 million in Latin America and Caribbean, 0.7 million in Sub-Saharan Africa, 0.4 million in Middle East and North Africa, 0.3 in the transition countries, and 0.2 in the industrialized countries

12.3 million people are currently affected by modern slavery and/or forced labour per year. 7.8 million or 64% are economically exploited, while 11% are victims of commercial sexual exploitation. Incidence of modern slavery is highest in Asia and Pacific, followed by Latin America and Caribbean (see Modern slavery).
