Starting in Corsica to end, following the tradition, in Paris Champs-Élysèes, the 100th Tour de France is 3,403.5 kilometers long, running in 21 stages from 29 June to 21 July 2013. The race includes 7 flat stages, 6 mountain stages with 4 summit finishes, 4 hilly stages, 2 individual time-trial stages and 1 team time-trial stage. The surviving riders can recover strength during two rest days.
The 2013 Tour includes a leg in Corsica, both in Corse-du-Sud and in Haute-Corse, where the Tour had never before been hosted. This will be the only excursion outside metropolitan France. Another significant changes are the twice climbing of Alpe-d’Huez on the 18th stage, and the reintroduction of a team time-trial, 25 km to be run in Nice, stage 4. Twenty-two teams of 9 riders each participate in the race.
