The 2017 season's last F1 race in Abu Dhabi could not alter significantly the drivers' hierarchy. Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton started the race already wearing the champion's crown. Behind the British, given the 22 points lead of Ferrari's Vettel upon Mercedes' Bottas, it was highly unlike that Vettel would miss the second step of the podium. Indeed, in spite of Bottas' great performance, that did not happen. The fourth place however changed hands. As Ricciardo' Red Bull car stopped with steering problems, Ferrari's Räikkönen fourth place finish put him ahead of the Australian by a narrow 5 points. In the final standings, Hamilton scores 363 points, to Vettel's 317, Bottas' 305, Räikkönen's 205, and Ricciardo's 200.
