Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton's victory in Abu Dhabi, the 53rd of his F1 career and his 10th in 2016, one more than his rival and 2016 champion Nico Rosberg, did not suffice to win him the champion's title. At the end of the season he finished with a meager, but heavy 5-point gap to Nico Rosberg, who leads the overall standings with 385 points, to Hamilton's 380, Daniel Ricciardo's 256, Sebastian Vettel's 212, Max Verstappen's 204, and Kimi Räikkönen's 186.
