Rosberg kept full control of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, successfully resisted Hamilton's furious charges, and held on to it throughout. On lap 41, Hamilton was 12.5 seconds adrift and quickly reduced the deficit to 6.8 seconds with four laps to run, but then he ran into traffic and Rosberg was able to extend the gap to a comfortable 8.2s by the flag. In the struggle, the world champion performed still another fastest lap, his 8th and the 13th for Mercedes, and won the 2015 trophy. Behind him, the standings did not change: Rosberg achieved 5 fastest laps, Ricciardo 3, Räikkönen 2, and Vettel one.
